It seems to me that the practice of making New Year’s resolutions has gone by the wayside in recent years. Maybe it is just me, because I have never really made any New Year’s resolutions, and so no one talks to me about them any more. My philosophy has been that if changes need to be made in my life, I can start right now. In fact, if I wait for a certain period of time, the likelihood of the changes actually sticking decreases. There really is no time like the present.
The present, however, is today which seems to correspond with the New Year. So I encourage all of us to make a church-wide New Year’s resolution to grow more passionate about our relationship with God. Join a small group, pick-up a spiritual journal on January 11, and prayerfully reflect on the sermons throughout the week. Together, we can really grow-up into the head which is Jesus Christ.
