High-Altitude Spirituality

Author: Pastor Gary Jarvis
Yes, I am writing this G-Log while on vacation, but I noticed something during this vacation in Colorado I would like to share. The longer I live in Arizona , the more I have noticed how much the high-altitude in Colorado affected me.  I usually had to sleep more just because of the energy drain.  However, this time has been different.  I have more energy to get outdoors, and enjoy God’s beautiful world, and Colorado is indeed beautiful.

I attribute the difference to exercise.  I have been doing a much better job of keeping my physical health stronger through exercise than I had in previous visits to CO.  Not only that, but I have been exercising during this vacation, which has equated to more energy, which equals more enjoyment, which equals more fun with family and friends.

It has occurred to me that our relationship with God is very  similar.  When we make spiritual practices like prayer, scripture, meditation, and quiet time a priority for our spiritual health, we have more spiritual energy for the peaks, valleys, rocky roads, and smooth roads of life.  More energy equals more joy which equals more peace with God.  I encourage you to engage in a high-altitude spirituality.
