The Challenge of Ministry

Author: Pastor Gary Jarvis

As we move to being a Gift/Passion-Based Ministry, we bump into many challenges.  I find that some people just decide not to use their gifts in the church, and it causes others to scramble to make things work.  Others, out of their good heart, then serve, not according to their giftedness, but out of need, and this causes burnout.  So we have to make a decision; “Do we keep the particular program going, or do we just find able-bodied people to fill slots?”  I would wish that neither would be the case.  My wish would be that people take their gifts seriously and use them to edify the body and glorify God.  When this happens, ministry flourishes, people grow in the Spirit and are fulfilled because they are serving according to their fit.  Some people are using their gifts, others have decided that their gifts are not needed or that they don’t want to use them.  Everyone is vital to the life of the Church.  Where is your passion, and gifts?  In Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Worship?  Let me know.
