Celebrating our gift from God!
Joseph Christopher Sawdon
Born Wednesday 3/31/10
At 10:14 am in Davao City, Philippines
8.5 pounds – a Healthy Baby BOY!
For those who like the details…
Tuesday God sent a friend who heard the baby was still sideways and she recommended that Heather visit the midwife training center. The director is our friend and she was able to move the head down.
At 6 am Wednesday, Heather was up and in the shower so I knew the day had finally arrived for the baby. We had breakfast and left for the hospital around 7, were checked in and in the Lamaze room by about 8. She was fully dilated by 9 when the doctor arrived. Heather was determined to have a normal delivery and not a C-section. It was her determination that made it happen. At 10 am the doctor was ready to give up as the baby’s head was still not completely down. Heather gave a couple mighty pushes and the doctor and nurses did all they could do and at 10:14 March 31, 2010 baby Joseph Christopher Sawdon came into the world. He was 8.5 lbs and healthy. Praise the Lord both mom and baby are healthy. Heather, however, will take awhile to be up and around, I think. She worked hard and has many stitches for her efforts.
I was able to be in the delivery room and never left her side and was able to hold the baby almost from birth. Now mommy and baby are sleeping in the room.
We thank you for your support and prayers. This has been a long pregnancy for Heather with the operation to start things off, and then unseasonably hot temperatures (high 90’s to 100’s), along with an extra large tummy. They call it a pendulum tummy (because it hangs down and actually swings when she walks!) The baby was also a week late and the doctor was very pessimistic whether it could be delivered naturally or not. Also, this baby was over a pound bigger than Sierra and that’s a lot for Heather’s size.
I have been teasing Sierra that I wanted a baby boy because she wanted a baby girl. Hopefully, she won’t be too disappointed.
Thanks again for giving us so much love and support.
